The Greek industry and handcraft are supplied and developed with oil fuels. Depending on its needs, each facility uses automotive diesel fuel, industrial mazut oil or industrial liquefied petroleum gas (propane, butane and mixture). Agricultural facilities also use agricultural petroleum throughout the year. The Public Power Corporation uses considerable amounts of oil both for the large power units of Lavrio and Aliveri, which consume mazut, and the smaller power units located on islands (Crete, Dodecanese, and Aegean Islands) which use special-specification mazut, and diesel fuels.
Finally, a part of the Greek industry uses HELLENIC PETROLEUM's chemical products as raw materials: polypropylene, PVC, as well as solvents (hexane and petroleum spirit).
