HELLENIC PETROLEUM Group shares the global concern about the effects of climate change and is drawn up with the fulfillment of the EU's objective of transitioning to a carbon-neutral economy by 2050, and to date has successfully complied with EU legislation to reduce CO₂ emissions from refineries.

An active member of FuelsEurope, the Association that for years represents in the European institutions the interests of the 40 refinery companies in Europe, HELPE Group has contributed to the preparation of a comprehensive proposal by the European Sector for Refining transition, entitled "Vision 2050". This is the first proposal already submitted in 2018 to the European institutions by the Industrial Sector and analyzes how the EU Refineries can be transformed and become energy hubs for energy and low carbon products, which will be necessary for a climate-neutral economy and society.
